fingers that come from the ground to tickle your throat
and flies caught on fire;
telephone calls to nowhere

overhearing emotion;
buzzing in the cables...

there's something out there;
waiting for me.
calling out and shimmering -
beckoning the walls around me...
they melt and slither away...

babies that wail and scream;
toddlers in their cages;
the moments of waiting past
melt in the sun;

what did i hear?

lights that bend and burst to tears;
we'll grow to meet them;
flying words
